Tata Consultancy Services is an IT services, consulting and business solutions organization that has been partnering with many of the world’s largest businesses for the past 50 years. We believe innovation and collective knowledge can transform all our futures with greater purpose. It was a great pleasure for us to work with their internal IT team to redesign their internal website called The Ultimatix which carries day to day operations of over 6 lac employees.
The plan was to make the Ultimatix more creative, along with enhancements on the User interface and User experience. It had to be done within 2 months of timespan as TCS was approaching their 50th anniversary. Their management's plan was to launch Ultimatix 2.0 before the anniversary. We took that as a challenge and worked with their internal team. Spoiler alert, but the project was delivered on time and Ultimatix was live before their 50th anniversary, a small gift from TCS to its employees.
Understanding the proper designing strategy is challenging for any business. We started kicked off knowledge transfer rounds within the same week, with their internal team, in order to properly understand what are TCS' expectations and core requirements from us. After the first round of Requirement Gathering, we started planning and scheduling deliverables. Once the internal planning was done, we reached out to TCS counterparts to explain to them what and how it would be done, keeping the provided timeframe of 3 months before the 5th anniversary.
We delivered the wireframes of the newly designed layout, containing all the suggestions and enhancements to their internal team. This was the first round of multiple suggestion cycles to come. To our surprise, majorly the layout was approved, and the rest wasn't entirely discarded, but there were some suggestions from their internal team who were also working with us on this. One great thing about working with TCS is that they never go for shortcuts, nor asked us to take one. They were very straightforward with their requirements and work methodologies, which was exactly in accord with our work culture.
The suggestions were noted down, and it was time to go back to work. We internally discussed their suggestions and decided how to bring those to reality, in a way that it doesn't impact but enhances the overall UI/UX of the Ultimatix.
After 3 iteration cycles and endless video conferences later, the end goal was blurred and fuzzy but visible to the naked eye. Wireframing is quick and easy, but the real challenge is to bring that exact same wireframe to the real world. Thanks to our talented web designing team, this transition was just a cakewalk. We created very much identical and practical solution which resonated with the initial static design templates which were provided by us.
A delivery date was scheduled to hand off the raw code of the newly designed interface. We kept a week as buffer to have a final discussion so that TCS' internal team could provide their last suggestions. Since all the work was done in alignment with their internal team, there wasn't much to discuss on this video conference. This is the best part of our work methodology. From the beginning, we keep client engaged in deliverables. That way, client gets to witness the whole process and could provide suggestions while the development is in the earlier stage because it's always less time and resource consuming to change things in initial stage compare to the later stages.
The code was delivered to their internal team. We handled the design part, so now their task was to build a solid and robust backend around the frontend enhancements created by the Ozed team.
Design enhancements gave the website an ultimate look. The design helped the website to have creative look and greatly improved UI/UX. The project was delivered before their 50th anniversary, and Go-Live was also planned accordingly. It was a great experience with TCS team to create something that could bring change and make their employee's life a lot more hassle-free. That's what our IT solutions are for.
